GG1X3 LIES WIDE SHUT REVIEW
Hello Upper East Siders, Legally Polymath here! And I have the newest review on our favorite newyorkers!
Episode 3 was a significant step forward from the reboot's first two episodes, with character development, twists, and some good old repercussions. Let's start with the professors, who are possibly the most vexing characters on television right now. The school was bound to want to find out who was behind the account, therefore severe efforts were required to keep the ruse going.
Kate and the other two were fully aware that Reema would be unable to keep the information to herself. They've sacked the person who was least involved in the conspiracy, and she'll probably be prevented from teaching students for the rest of her life in their drive to make people accept responsibility. I'm not sure if that's awful writing or just three people figuring out that they can screw with the lives of many for their own satisfaction.
When Kate erased the photo on Gossip Girl (2021) Season 1 Episode 2, she showed maturity, but this most recent move has elevated the three remaining teachers behind the account to full villain rank.Rafa is really not my favorite character, but the fact that they were willing to blame him for the account even though he had nothing to do with it was telling. It's a shame Reema didn't realize she was being exploited as a scapegoat. I'm not sure why she let the other three get away with it when she was clearly duped. Is there a big hook somewhere down the line where it's revealed she was so obviously set up. Is there a big disclosure coming down the line that she confessed and that the school is preparing to strike when it has enough proof against Kate and her henchmen?
Yes, some of the teenagers are bad here and shouldn't be followed, but do we really need to follow them unless they're going to another school? If this series was labeled as an anthology, it would be simpler to believe that each season would take place in a different locale. There needs to be a time where the power is hijacked by an all-knowing entity who refocuses on the teenagers we kicked off GG first episode with.
As things are, Kate and her henchmen must depart. They're adversaries, and there's no way I'd ever think of them any other way.
Max's plot to annoy Rafa was a classic Max maneuver. He enjoys lighting fires and then watching the world burn. He's the best kind of character since he doesn't mind wrecking people's lives.
Using Aki to impersonate Rafa was a risk, but if the show's goal is to highlight what people do on their phones, it succeeds.
Max's parents' relationship has clearly been strained for some time, which is not uncommon. Some relationships, even if they have been together for 20 years, get stale due to a variety of causes.
Turning to Luna was the biggest mistake Zoya could ever make, but Luna is the type of character who will follow the power wherever it leads, so it was perfectly on-brand for her to consider giving Little Z an epic glow-up. I'm enjoying the storyline more now that the two sisters have stopped bickering, but with Luna and Mona plotting to force a hole between them, I'm not so sure.
Julien's plan to discover what her father was concealing was flawlessly performed.
Julien is a complex character who is often misunderstood as a monster, and I applaud the writers' efforts to make her comprehend her father's relationship with Lola.
Transparency is crucial, and if Davis lies to his daughter, how can she trust anything he says?
Till next time, XOXO LEGALLY POLYMATH
