CULTURAL IMPACT
This UK Foursome immediately influenced the UK charts in 2001 with a series of cleverly crafted pop / R & B singles. Duncan James and Antony Costa, who first met on the casting tour, decided to start their group in early 2000. They soon connected with Lee Ryan, who first noticed on the tour, and his roommate and former professional soccer player Simon Webbe. Later, a management and recording contract was signed with Innocent Records, and the quartet was assigned to several songwriting / production teams. Their debut single, All Rise, was written by Norwegian major pop team Stargate, taken from an album of the same name, reached number four on the UK singles chart in May 2001, and remained in the top ten for several weeks. Next's US chart top hits "Too Close" and "If You Come Back" quartet covers topped the charts in August and November, respectively. Their debut album included rock ("Back To You") and funk ("Bounce") influences, but most of the time they had sweet pop ballads and uptempo urban materials like "Fly By". Faithful to the standard boy band mix, it has reached the top 10 in the UK. Released as a single in 2002. The quartet confirmed its commercial position in November 2002 when its second album, One Love, made its debut at the top of the UK singles chart. The following month, they returned to the top of the singles chart with an updated version of his "Sorry but seems to be the most difficult word" in a duet with Elton John.
