Must Haves. Music Edition. Tina Turner.
BACKGROUND HISTORY
Born near Brownsville, Tennessee, Annie May Brock began singing as a teenager and at the age of 18 attended Ike Turner's tour show as a backsinger. Just two years later, Tina was the star of the show and the center of attention for an incredibly smooth running soul review directed by Ike and his Kings of Rhythm. The pair began charting with "A Fool in Love" in 1960 and hit the chart singles in the 1960s, but the pity of "River Deep, Mountain High", which Phil Spector quoted as one of his best works. The position was very much appreciated. It's difficult. All expectations were met in 1971 with "Proud Mary". This is the number 4 hit that was the pinnacle of Ike & Tina's review. But behind the scenes, the pond became more and more violent and abusive. In 1976, Tina was finally able to free herself from him.

CULTURAL IMPACT
One of the most dynamic soul singers in American music history, Tina Turner has been a vibrant force since she went on stage as the lead singer for the Ike & Tina Turner Review in the late 50's. Their gloomy and roaring performances break doors everywhere, looking back on the double onslaught of gospel enthusiasm and bohemian dedication that originally shaped the soul in the early '50s. She divorced from Ike in the mid-'70s, and she only occasionally recorded in the second half of her decade. She reappeared in a series of hit singles and movie appearances in the mid-1980s, ensuring her second life as a powerful solo artist. Her prestigious position was firmly secured in the 21st century, when she entered her later years and had a major impact on her younger generation.
