CLUELESS. THE VERY BEST CHICK FLICK EVER MADE.
Immediately below its superficial appearance is a film with a significant amount of substance and style. If you've never seen an absolute classic clueless, where have you been in the last 20 years? On the surface, this movie looks like any other teenage movie. Set in the rich land of Beverly Hills, it is starring many brutal characters who have more money than their brains. But wait. Just below its superficial appearance is a film with lots of substance and style. Don't believe me Fortunately, you are in the right place. Here are some of the many, many reasons why this movie is the best in its genre. That's why it's a great chick flick.
1 Roughly based on Jane Austen's novel. One of the reasons many people look down on women's films is, in other words, that women have no merit. They are superficial nonsense aimed at entertaining us, but they do not educate us at all. Could you dare to say that about Jane Austen's classics? Well, probably not. The little-known fact about this movie is that it is actually based on her novel Emma. You must not have seen it come. Like the Austin character, Sher is an ambitious young woman who observes the world around her and tries to understand it. If you've read the book before, it's really when you gave Clueless a shot. Storylines can vary in time and technology, but in many ways they are very similar.
2- The female relationships in it is as honest as hell. Of course, the basis of all great female films is a strong female relationship. Sure, there may be love interests and romantic elements, but most of these films are backed by two (or more) friends trying to get over life. One of the reasons why "Clueless" became so popular was the honest relationship between Cher and Dionne.
3- It parodyes other "teen movies". "Clueless" takes all the stereotypical teenage moments and does it with a wink. It comes up as much smarter than any other movie in the genre. It's like laughing at others, not together.
4- As far as the role model of a teenage girl is concerned, this woman isn't too bad. She takes care of herself and cherishes herself ... more than she really cherishes what people think of herself. This is a struggle for many young women, especially in high school. Everything welcomes Queen Sher.
