ICARLY REVIVAL REVIEW. SEASONS 1 & 2

In the summer of 2021, we saw the return of Nickelodeln show, ICarly, now in the form of a more adult tone for Paramount+. A lot of improvements were for sure be needed for both seasons in order to succed. First off, the revival needed to have a solid reason for a comeback, and second of all, have a reason to comeback. Starting off with the first season, the jokes took a different approach. With the audiences being mostly grown ups, people in their 20s and older, new topics entered the conversation regarding a new form of making television.

Did the show took the necesary steps to build upon a new and improved Icarly? Considering the fact that social media was not the phenomenon that it is today, the premise of the orginal was innovating. Now the main characther it's an influencer, the pioneer of her times, which at first sight, can be a shitty premise to start of a new show, but not this revival.

Regarding the first season, the lack of mention of the webshow made no sense, considering it's it's whole foundation, it felt like an afterthought turned into a sitcom about an 'old' show, instead of exploiting the nostalgic factor going on. Season two had the website turned into a bigger plot point revolving about the structure and the making of it, with that in mind, the other plots concerning Carly's life were filled with plotholes, and luckly, it is not a critic.

The storylines were vague and so was the script. Some early 2000s references (like the revival of the meme) were extremely fun, but some others plain basic and predictable. The incorporation of Josh Peck set the tone to turned it into what the original idea for the show was, selling nostalgia to millenials/Gen z's.

They refocused the narritive and tightened the cast back up with the addition of one-off characthers and cameos/role reprisals. Overrall, the show it's entertaining and brings back elements from the arly 2000s television we all cramed, so hopefully Icarly it's here to stay!
