SEINFELD. REVIEW.
Jerry Seinfeld plays himself, a comedian, in this television comedy series. The premise of this sitcom is Jerry and his friends going about their daily lives, discussing various odd situations that we can all relate to (especially if you live in New York City). The eccentric personalities of Jerry's social circle add to the entertainment.
The show about nothing is truly unique! It is not an easy task to keep viewers glued to a show that is all about trivial questions bothering four friends in their daily lives (that are relatable to ours and are summarized hilariously in 20 minutes) for nine seasons and more than twenty episodes, and Seinfeld has done an outstanding job.
I especially like how each episode is narrated—with an opening standup bit by Seinfeld and parallel stories of the main characters that are constantly cut to a newer story and somehow everything comes together in the end.
The characters are so relatable, their acting so natural, their friendship so genuine, and their humor so organic and intelligent, that it's difficult to stop watching one episode after another.
Jerome's sarcastic remarks and subtle yet clever real life observations, Lainey's dashing and sassy portrayal of a woman,Georgie boy's insecurities and complaints about his life and, above all , K-Man's every scene and dialogue will definitely rob your heart, slightly slowly but surely. The supporting cast did an amazing job too.
It's a true gem of a sitcom that has quickly become one of my all-time favorites. It looks great, the photography is always good, and the locations and sets are eye-catching and effective. The music is quite infectious; granted, it is not the show's best asset, but it is adequate. The writing is easily the show's best asset. There has rarely been a sitcom or a show where the writing is consistently witty and hilarious, even in the weaker episodes.
The story lines and episode ideas are fantastic; it may not always cover new ground, but the situations are always brilliantly realized and priceless. In fact, there are several Seinfeld episodes that I consider to be comedy masterpieces. The characters have flaws, but they are also likeable. And the acting is fantastic, with the interplay shining through in every episode. Overall, a fantastic comedy show that deserves to be ranked among the best.
