DECODING RED CARPETS:GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS 2023

Hollywood adores a good comeback story. The Golden Globes 2023 were returned to NBC on Tuesday after the network refused to air the show last year, citing the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's need for "meaningful reform" in the aftermath of diversity failures, racism allegations, professionalism complaints, and public embarrassments.

That means the last Golden Globes broadcast was in 2021, when winners mostly accepted their awards remotely, speaking from behind computer screens during a virtual ceremony. Nonetheless, red-carpet-worthy fashion persisted, with many celebrities taking advantage of the opportunity to show off stunning looks from the comfort of their own homes. The Golden Globes 2023—the ceremony's 80th edition—returned to the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills this year, bringing with it a homecoming for glamour and all the show-stopping red-carpet moments that kept viewers talking long after the show had aired.

The red carpet welcomed stars dressed in a variety of styles before the awards were presented, luminaries were honored, and performances were celebrated. Gothic glamour was a big theme of the night, with actors like Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Lyonne, Daisy Edgar Jones, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeremy Pope, and Lisa Marie Presley all embracing the spooky-inspired trend. Pink was the color to wear, as Margot Robbie, Julia Garner, Elizabeth Debicki, Seth Rogen, and others brought a pop of rose to the red carpet. While many of the attendees were dressed to the nines, only a few made the cut and earned a spot on our best-dressed list.
