TOP 10 GROUNDBREAKING FASHION SHOWS

The key to make a solid and perfect as well as memorable fashion show relies on four main factors. The lineup, the clothes, the music and the location. Here's my top 10 fashion shows I recommend you to watch.

Thierry Mugler hosted a show at Paris' landmark Cirque d'Hiver to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of his brand, set to star Pat Cleveland attired as Madonna (she descended from the ceiling), Jerry Hall, Carmen Dell'Orefice, Veruschka von Lehndorff, and Patty Hearst, who performed a strip tease. For the finale? As sparkling confetti rained down on the stage, James Brown performed.

9- VERSACE, FALL-WINTER 1991

With a lineup like this: Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Cindy Crawford, is it posible to not rock a George Michael hit while wearing an amazing line?

28 years later and these clothes are still in style, such a timeless line from the time when designers designed for their art and not for fast cash, the detail in some of these pieces is exquisite. The colors, everything is iconic.

9- CHANEL SPRING-SUMMER 1994

As the moment when the late Karl Lagerfeld created the wonderful combination of pop culture and prestigious house codes, this Chanel collection is well remembered. For better readability, we're talking among logo suspenders, chained ties, itsy-bitsy bikini pieces and even some rollerblades. This was the show where the 21st century saw Chanel jump into it.

8- ALEXANDER MC QUEEN SPRING - SUMMER 2010

In what was to be Alexander McQueen's final show before his untimely death a few months later, the designer staged a collection built around the concept of an apocalyptic world in which humankind is forced to live in the oceans after destroying the earth. (Futuristic digital prints of aquatic imagery, abstract scales and reptilian motifs dominated the line-up.)

7- CHRISTIAN DIOR Spring Summer 1998

The location? Magical Paris. The garments? Exquisite.

6- Pierre Cardin 2007

A fashion show in the middle of the desert? That's right, with a hot red color palette aligning the white suits, this collection left us speechless.

5-Thom Browne for Moncler Gamme Bleu 2010 — Milan Velodrome

Speaking of sensational locations, this one takes the prize for the most original. The models aced the runway on a bike!

4- Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi 2007 – The Great Wall of China

Vibrant pieces deserve an exotic location, Fendi went all in with this one.

3-BERLIN FASHIONWEEK- UNDERGROUND RUNWAY

A new way to feel fabulous on public transportation.

2- Underwater Fashion Show Harmagedon by Jana Nedzvetskaya

This 2015 fashionshow is the definition of groundbreaking. The pieces are printed, flowy and original as well as the insane location.

1- GUCCI WESTMINSTER ABBEY FASHION SHOW

A breathtaking location on a divine abbey. With a posh twist, Gucci mannaged to pull of one hell of a show.

Fendi’s Fall 2016 Couture show, which also marked their 90th anniversary, at the Trevi Fountain, Rome.
